Nova Craft Prospector SP3 – the extremely durable all-rounder
The SP3 Prospectors from Nova Craft offer handling characteristics similar to the laminated Prospector models, but are made from an especially rugged, three-layer polyethylene material (SP3). This material is virtually indestructible, extremely low-maintenance, and designed for heavy use. While SP3 boats are noticeably heavier, they are also significantly more affordable and exceptionally tough.
SP3 Prospectors are ideal for outfitters, course providers, clubs, and anyone looking for a highly durable, rugged, and low-maintenance canoe. If weight isn’t a concern, an SP3 canoe is also a great option for private paddlers.
⚠️ Alongside the TuffStuff Expedition canoes, these are the only boats also suitable for light whitewater.

SP3 – built to last
🔧 SP3 hulls are manufactured using a rotational molding process from three layers of superlinear polyethylene (HDPE). The two outer layers are solid, while the middle white layer consists of a foamed PE structure with enclosed air pockets.
👉 This three-layer sandwich construction combines high stiffness with exceptional durability. At the same time, the foamed core provides the necessary buoyancy.
Prospector 15 SP3 – the compact one

🛶 The Prospector 15 SP3 is a more compact version of the Prospector 16 and stays true to the classic lines. It delivers the proven handling of the Prospector series while being slightly more maneuverable and responsive. This makes it an ideal touring canoe for paddlers who don’t need a large volume—while also serving as a very agile tandem boat.
👉 Who is it for? The Prospector 15 SP3 is perfect for two light to medium-weight paddlers with minimal gear, or for occasional solo use – also with a dog or extra gear. For longer solo trips, trim adjustments are recommended (seat position). We’re happy to advise you!

🛶 The Prospector 16 SP3 is the standard model in the SP3 range and feels equally at home on lakes and rivers. As a versatile touring canoe, it combines high maneuverability with good tracking: the pronounced rocker enables agile handling, while the balanced hull shape ensures stable and straight-running performance.
Thanks to its high secondary stability and ample freeboard, the Prospector 16 SP3 provides a dry and secure ride – even in waves and moving water. This makes it one of the best all-round canoes for long and varied trips. With an optional center seat, it’s also perfectly suited for relaxed day trips with family and gear.
